Schools of Jurisprudence

Jurisprudence can be categorised as per different schools of thought, which propound unique approaches to understanding the law:

1. Analytical Jurisprudence – Concerned with the law's structure and logical consistency, considering that law is a set of rules set by a sovereign.

2. Natural Law – Assumes that law must include some moral principles of human nature, considering that unjust laws are not legally binding.

3. Historical Jurisprudence – Expounds the history of law, assuming that law develops as a product of historical cultural and social growth.

4. Sociological Jurisprudence: Focuses on how the law shapes the society; it looks into how the laws are a reflection and result of what is accepted and carried out by a society.

5. Legal Realism: The conception of the law being determined through judicial interpretation and social forces rather than on the abstract rules.

All these schools of though bring about diverse insights into the comprehensive understanding of the purpose, function, and relation to the society of the law.
