History of Jurisprudence

The history of jurisprudence dates back to early ages where great thinkers began to conceptualize the law, justice, and governance. Philosophers in ancient Greece, such as Plato and Aristotle, discussed justice and how law would govern an organized society. Roman jurists then expanded on these ideologies, introducing systematic legal reasoning. In the Middle Ages, thinkers like Thomas Aquinas searched for a connection between law and morality. Modern jurisprudence branched out in the 18th century, when jurisprudence started to assume several different forms of schools of legal thought, particularly of the Enlightenment. The important thinkers are John Austin, H.L.A. Hart, and Ronald Dworkin, who all contributed a lot to the establishment of ideas that now form the contours of contemporary legal philosophy.
